Lottery Wheeling, Scam or Smart?

Are lottery wheels smart or just another scam?

Lottery wheels are a method of arranging lottery ticket numbers in a way that will supposedly improve your chances to win multiple-tier lottery prizes. Wheeling was designed for players who wish to play with a bigger  number set than the set required for a lottery ticket. Using a mathematical formula based on combinations it generates tables that would give either full or partial coverage of all possible prize winning  combinations of numbers a player selects for a lottery draw.

An example would be that instead of picking 6 number for pick 6 you would pick 10 numbers and if the winning 6 numbers were part of that 10 number field that you picked then you would definitely win a prize of 3 out of 6 or more, hopefully the jackpot of 6 of 6.

So, do lottery wheels or lottery wheeling as it’s call work?  Yes and no.

Picking 10 numbers or what every pool size of numbers you wish is just as hard as picking 6 numbers. So your odds don’t improve all that much.  You also have to play more tickets than just 1 or 2 tickets.

But if your going to play 10 or more tickets anyway, then you might as well wheel them.

The real problem with wheeling in my opinion is you play a lot of wasted plays.

Let me give you an example of a wasted play:  In pick 6,  66% of the time the winning numbers are arranged as 3 even numbers and 3 odd numbers, 2 odds and 3 evens, or 3 odds and 2 even numbers.  With wheeling, the wheel does not take into consideration the make up of the combination of 6 numbers.  So you get combinations where all 6 numbers can be even or odd. That’s pretty much a waste of time.

You may also get a combination where 2, 3, 4, 5 or even all 6 numbers where in the last couple of winning tickets.  This happening is pretty much unheard of.

So if you are going to wheel the next big lottery, after you generate those numbers look carefully at each set of numbers.

Go to your lottery’s home page and take each set and search the combination for winners and see if it’s a waste of time to play that set.  Also exclude any set of numbers that’s all even or all odd.

Pick 3 Tips

How To Win The Pick 3 Lottery In The Nj Pick 3 Lottery

By: Robert Walsh

The Pick 3 Lottery is the most available and popular lottery game in the United States and Canada.  The Pick 3 is also the simplest lotto game to play.  The player chooses one digit 0 through 9 for each of the three positions.  Matching the three digits exactly to the order of the drawn winning Pick 3 numbers in one’s State Lottery will create a jackpot or “Straight” win for the player.  Matching the three digits in any mixed order gives the player a “Box” win.

There are 1,000 exact orders the player can choose from to play. They range from 000 to 999.  The majority of State Lotteries reward the player with $500 for one $1wager Straight Win.  One $1 Box ticket receives either $80 or $160 depending on the type of number drawn.

Most avid Pick 3 Lottery players, including players who play the NJ Pick 3 Lottery, Florida Cash 3, and Ohio Pick 3 Lottery, seek to find a Pick 3 Lottery System to assist them in their attempt to find the winning numbers.  Playing this lottery game with random number picks or random generated “quick picks” is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.  Most professional players admit that in order “to win” the player needs to find a system as a way of choosing potential winning Pick 3 numbers.

All Pick 3 Systems are not the same.  The quality and prices of these Systems certainly differ.  These Systems have been developed by a variety of folks.  Some are individuals who inherited the system from someone else by various means.  Some are “professional” gamblers, some are non-professional Pick 3 players who loved this game and created their own systems over the years.

There are other number aficionados who have spent many years studying how the Pick 3 numbers interact and connect with each other to create new winning numbers, and based on their research develop a system.  There are even lottery retailers who take their experience of selling lottery tickets and created a Pick 3 system.

The price for Pick 3 Systems ranges from $9.95 to $47.00.  The price though isn’t the whole difference.  All Pick 3 Lottery Strategies are not the same.  For $37.00 the Pick 3 player may get one Strategy or he or she may get eight or more Strategies.

In order not to become a loser in the NJ Pick 3 Lottery, Florida Cash 3, Ohio Pick 3 Lottery, and even New York Numbers, one needs to purchase a good lottery system and learn how to win Pick 3 in every draw 100% of the time.

Starting out with some basic knowledge is a good beginning.  There are one thousand possible exact orders to win with the Pick 3.  Seventy –two percent of the possible winning numbers are “single” numbers. This means that all three digits are different, such as 123, 456, or 890. Seven hundred-twenty (720) of the 1,000 Pick 3 numbers are “single numbers”.

Next there are “double” Pick 3 numbers.  Two of the three digits are matching, such as 112, 545, or 899.  There are two hundred-seventy (270) “double numbers”.  The last ten numbers are “triples”, for example 111, 444, or 999.

Some authors and their Systems point out the above reality, and conclude…. “If you want to learn how to win Pick 3, just play the “Single” Numbers because they represent 72% of the potential winning numbers.  This is true, and it sounds good and reasonable.

What they DON”T SAY is that by only playing Single Pick 3 Numbers,  the player will be a guaranteed automatic loser with about 20% to 40% of all drawn numbers each month. The sad thing is you don’t even “know” this is happening to you.

This range is established with a simple process.   As I did for the months of January and February 2010, simply count all the Pick 3 “double” and “triple” numbers that were drawn during a given month.  Take that total and divide it by the total number draws in that month.  The answer represents the percentage of draws you were a  guaranteed automatic loser because you followed some bad advice….NJ Pick 3 Lottery (22% & 26%), Florida Cash 3 Lottery (29% & 37%), Ohio Pick 3 Lottery (27% & 30%), and New York Numbers Lottery (30% & 25%).

No one I know goes into an automobile dealership to buy a new car, and agrees to purchase a new car that is only working about 80% of the time or even worse only 60% of the time.

What players want to give up 20% to 40% potential wins every month?  How many players want to pass up $160 or $500 every time a Pick 3 “double” or “triple” number is drawn?  Why? Because some so-called Pick 3 expert or Pick 3 system advised them not to include these types of numbers in their play.

How can you expect to win the Pick 3 Lottery when you leave that kind of money behind? One would have to have six (6) “single” Pick 3 $1 winning Box tickets to make up for every time they were a guaranteed automatic loser when a Pick 3 triple was drawn even if it were only once.

Most recently, on the weekend of March 6/7, 2010, if you are a player who plays in the following States you were an automatic loser because a “double” Pick 3 number was drawn in one or more draws….NJ Pick 3 Lottery (611), Florida Cash 3 (558), Ohio Pick 3 Lottery (774), New York Numbers (887), North Carolina Pick 3 (212), Maine Pick 3 (779), Maryland Pick 3 (767 & 787), New Hampshire Pick 3 (779),  New Mexico Pick 3 (229) on 3/6…no Sunday draw, and Vermont  Pick 3 (779).

So, think about the advice the “so-called” experts give you.  Check it out for yourself.  Take their advice and test what they say by using past monthly results.  Pick 3 lottery players want to know how to win Pick 3, not how to be made guaranteed automatic losers based on bad advice or a poorly developed system.   When you decide to purchase a Pick 3 Lottery System, look for one that gives you a 100% option of winning, not an 80% or 60% with playable winning Pick 3 numbers.

Longshot lottery numbers

How Can Lottery Longshots Improve Your Play?

Author: Professor Dolph

Around the world, serious lottery players are always looking for lottery number patterns or trends that will give them an advantage; that will give them that winning edge. But, there is one lottery number pattern that exists in all lotteries that many players aren’t even aware of and it cost them dearly. These lottery number patterns are called Longshots.

For those that don’t know what Longshots are in lottery parlance, we’ll start with some history and a definition. A few years back there was a lottery strategy that became popular that, for lack of a better name, we’ll call the Hot Number Strategy. With it came the usual marketing hype that you would expect. The pitch went something like this:

More than 80% of all winning lottery numbers have Hit in the last 10 drawings. Therefore, to improve your chances of winning the lottery create your play list from all the winning numbers in the last 10 drawings.

If you accept the hypothesis then the conclusion seems plausible. But, let’s look a little deeper. Implicit in this strategy is the opposite side of the coin. Any lottery numbers that haven’t Hit in the last 10 drawings are considered a rather dubious pick and should be avoided. Hence, these lottery numbers were dubbed ‘Longshots’. The term persists to this day and I even use it. However, I do not use the word Longshot disparagingly; I use it with reverence. They are an absolute necessity for any viable lottery strategy.

For all of those lottery players who got caught up in the Hot Number Strategy hype, this was, no doubt, a very expensive lesson. They spent a lot of money on lottery tickets and ended up without much to show for their investment.

The reason the Hot Number Strategy was such a disaster was because it excluded Longshots. Including Longshots is vital to any successful lottery strategy because, on the average, 25% to 40% of the winning numbers are Longshots! You heard me right; 25% to 40%.

I know this is true because I’ve analyzed every lottery in the US and Canada over the last 20+ years and this is as true today as it was when I started. The percentage varies from lottery to lottery as the size of the lotteries change. For example, the percentage is higher for a 6/54 lottery than it is for a 6/39 lottery. But, this lottery number pattern is as solid as Mount Rushmore.

How can you verify this? Simple. Well, maybe not so simple if you don’t have some excellent lottery software. But, either way, this is the approach. For each lottery drawing, list all of the lottery numbers that have Hit in the last 10 drawings. Any lottery number not in the list must be a Longshot. Count how many winning numbers in the next drawing were Longshots. Do this for the entire lottery history. If you average the number of Longshots that were winners, you will find the answer lies somewhere between 25 to 40 percent.

Let’s take this to the next logical step. Assuming that the answer you got was 30%, then, on the average, 30% of the winning numbers in the next drawing would be Longshots. If you were playing a 6/48 lottery, this means that you should expect 1.8 winning numbers to be Longshots. (30% x 6 = 1.8) Of course, this doesn’t happen every drawing but it is unwaveringly persistent over time. For example, in Lotto Texas, at least 1 of the winning numbers is a Longshot 89% of the time! In other words, you can count on it.

Perhaps now you see why the Hot Number Strategy aficianados lost so much money. On the average, they consistently came up 1.8 numbers short in their play lists. It must have been (and still is) very frustrating for those using this weak lottery strategy.

Some of you are, no doubt, asking how you can take advantage of Longshot when you play. Continuing with the example above, it is very simple. Let’s say you decide to pare down the 48 lottery numbers to a 37 number play list by using lottery analysis software. This is a good strategy since you have eliminated 9,946,728 wagers from play! Since you confidently expect 30% of the winning lottery numbers to be Longshots, you make sure that 11 of those 37 lottery numbers in your play list are Longshots. (30%x37=11.1)

This is how using Longshots can improve your overall play. It is a lottery strategy used by serious lottery players everywhere. Lottery strategies like this fall under the category: playing the odds. In fact, that’s what all successful gamblers do; play the odds.
